Vegan-friendly menu items at Japanese chain restaurants
Menu items at Japanese chains with no detected meat, fish, dairy, or eggs.
About this filter
Vegan options at Japanese chains are limited but growing — Starbucks Japan offers oat-milk drinks, Mos Burger has soy patty options, and many ramen shops now sell tantanmen-style vegan bowls. We screen for items where the menu name and category contain no animal-derived terms. As with vegetarian filtering, hidden ingredients (dashi, eggs in batter, milk in sauces) are common in Japan. Treat this as a starting point, not a certification.
Important caveat. Soy sauce and many sauces are vegan, but dashi (bonito-based fish stock), gelatin, and eggs in batters are common. Salads often include tuna or anchovy unless specified. When in doubt, ask "Niku, sakana, tamago, gyunyu wa haitte imasu ka?" (Does this contain meat, fish, eggs, or milk?).
